DLCConfirmed

007 First Light's first free DLC is out, and it's bigger than the teaser suggested

IO Interactive's Extended Operations is live as part of update 1.3.0, adding New Game+, Photo Mode, a new '00' difficulty, the Jungle Heist TacSim operation and the Valhalla Protocol — plus more than 700 fixes.

IO Interactive is adding free content to 007 First Light, and it is not making anyone wait long to find out what. The studio posted a short teaser on the game's social channels on September 29 with the line "A free DLC is just around the bend. Tune in on October 1st."

What the teaser shows

Very little, deliberately. The 13-second clip pans slowly across a mountain road before a grey car flashes through the frame too fast to identify, with the words "Free DLC October 1st" over the top as the shot fades. There is no gameplay, no mission name and no platform detail.

Why free matters here

007 First Light launched with a paid Deluxe Edition upgrade and a set of cosmetic gadget skins and outfits on its store page, so a free content drop this early reads as goodwill rather than a monetisation step — particularly after a bumpy few weeks in which IO shipped two hotfixes addressing path tracing performance problems on PC.

The reveal is on Thursday, October 1.

Why it matters

IO Interactive has a long record of feeding its games for years after release, and this is the first sign of what that looks like for Bond.
