Asylum is finally leaving the PC. SOEDESCO has confirmed October 30 for the console release of Senscape's psychological horror adventure, bringing it to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.

What it is

You play an ex-patient of the Hanwell Mental Institute, returning to a building you cannot entirely trust your memories of. The game is built around exploring its layout, digging into its history and solving puzzles, with hallucinations bleeding into the process. SOEDESCO's description leans on the phrase mind bending original storyline, and the design is point-and-click rather than action horror.

The pitch is slow-burning, old-school horror rather than jump scares: roughly ten hours long, with a soundtrack the publisher says is modelled on 1980s horror films. Senscape previously made Scratches and Serena, and cites influences running from Peter Cushing to Lucio Fulci.

Fifteen years in the making

Asylum has an unusually long history for a game this size. It spent around fifteen years in development before reaching Steam and GOG on March 13, 2025, and the console ports have taken another year and a half on top of that. The October 30 date lands it the day before Halloween, which is not a coincidence.

Neither SOEDESCO's page nor the announcement gives a console price.

Why it matters

Slow, puzzle-driven first-person horror rarely makes it to consoles at all, and Asylum arrives on four of them at once in the busiest week of the horror calendar.
