Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core is getting a new boss. Ghost Ship Games gave Update 3 a teaser during Coffee Stain's Big Break Showcase, and the publisher's announcement round-up puts the target at the end of October.

What was shown

Very little, deliberately. The showcase segment was a preview rather than a breakdown: a new boss is the headline item, and Ghost Ship has not published the creature's name, its mechanics or what else rides along with it. The studio has a habit of drip-feeding details in the weeks before a drop, so more should follow.

Where Rogue Core stands

Rogue Core is the co-op roguelike spin-off of Deep Rock Galactic, casting players as the Reclaimers, the Company's in-house security force, with five new classes and a faster, more combat-heavy structure than the mining game it grew out of. It launched into Steam Early Access on May 20, 2026, so Update 3 arrives roughly five months into that period.

It is a busy stretch for the wider series. Ghost Ship also used the showcase to confirm Deep Rock Galactic's Season 07 for December and a first paid expansion for summer 2027, and Funday Games announced a console expansion for Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor.

Why it matters

Boss fights are the clearest measure of whether an Early Access roguelike's combat has matured, and Rogue Core's whole premise is that it is the more aggressive of the two Deep Rock games. Update 3 is where that gets tested.

Why it matters

Rogue Core sells itself as the combat-forward Deep Rock game, so a new boss is the most direct test of whether its Early Access encounter design is holding up five months in.
