Donkey Kong Bananza's Emerald Rush events are coming back, one a month

Nintendo is rerunning the limited-time events from Donkey Kong Bananza's DK Island & Emerald Rush DLC on a monthly rotation, starting with Chip Fever on October 1. The event-only character figures come back with them.

Nintendo has quietly undone one of the more annoying things about Donkey Kong Bananza's paid DLC. The limited-time events it ran inside DK Island & Emerald Rush over the past year, each with its own exclusive rewards, are being rerun on a monthly rotation instead of staying gone.

What happens

In a post on its Japanese site dated October 1, Nintendo says twelve previously time-limited events now rotate, with a new one taking over on the first of each month. October's slot goes to Chip Fever, the very first event the DLC ran, played on DK Island.

Everything else works as it did. With the DLC installed, you speak to Void Kong and choose the option to take on the event, then play a special Emerald Rush run with some of its usual randomness locked down. Your score determines which character figures you earn, and Nintendo is explicit that these are figures you cannot get anywhere else. They go on display back on DK Island, which is the whole reason completionists chased them in the first place.

Why it is a bigger deal than it sounds

The original run ended in September with Bananza Antics, the twelfth event, and each one before it had a one-week window. Miss the week and the figures were simply unavailable, with no route back for anyone who bought the DLC partway through the year. The DLC is still required, and no new content comes with the rerun.

Why it matters

Limited-time rewards normally stay missed. Putting a year of them back on a predictable monthly schedule is a quiet win for anyone who bought Bananza's DLC late.
