Eternal Palace Sakura, a 3D action roguelite from small Japanese developer Denneko Yuugi, has a release date: November 5 on Switch and PC, with a release date trailer to go with it. The Switch version is the new part, and publisher Shochiku, better known as a film studio, is handling it alongside the developer.

What you actually do

You play Retla, a cat-eared dual-wielding heroine working through a shifting dream labyrinth full of yokai. Each run reshuffles the corridors, and the pitch is deliberately low-friction: the store page and Shochiku's materials both lean on mashing buttons for combos rather than learning long inputs, with dodging and blocking as the deeper layer.

The mechanic holding it together is a Tension gauge. Fill it and you enter Over-Tension, which unlocks heavy Over Arts attacks. Between that and collectible Attributes that hand out new abilities and stat boosts, the run-to-run variety comes from finding a setup that suits the floor you are on rather than from unlocking new characters.

One wrinkle on the date

Steam's own storefront currently lists November 4 for the PC version, while the announcement and Gematsu's report both say November 5. That gap is most likely the usual Japan-versus-US calendar split rather than two different releases, but the store page is the thing that will actually unlock, so PC players in the Americas may see it a day early.

Why it matters

It is a small game, but a competent anime action roguelite launching on Switch the same day as PC is an easy recommendation for anyone who wants combo-heavy action in short sittings, and Shochiku putting its name on games rather than films is worth noting.
