God of War Laufey lands February 16, 2027, and pre-orders are live now

Sony has dated Santa Monica Studio's God of War Laufey for February 16, 2027 on PS5 and opened pre-orders. There are two editions, and the studio used the announcement to show off Faye's shapeshifting Serpent Bow.

PlayStation has put a firm date on its next God of War. Santa Monica Studio's God of War Laufey arrives on PS5 on February 16, 2027, and pre-orders opened on September 29 at 10am local time across the PlayStation Store and participating retailers.

What you get

Two editions are on the table. Pre-ordering either one nets the Last Wish Armor Set, a Phranque Golden Leaves appearance and an in-game resource pack. The Digital Deluxe Edition, listed at $79.99, adds the Dark Alchemy Armor Set along with a matching blade, bow scales and catalyst, plus a second resource pack, a digital mini artbook and the official soundtrack.

Faye takes the lead

The announcement doubled as the clearest look yet at how Laufey actually plays. Faye is the playable character this time, and Sony describes her as an expert warrior able to command the flow of a fight. Her signature weapon is the Serpent Bow, an enchanted bow that carries the shifting form of a serpent and snaps from dormant to notched almost instantly.

Santa Monica says a full press on the trigger gives you precision aiming while a half press fires from the hip, with multiple arrow types and unlockable skills layered on top. Blades, bow scales and catalysts can all be swapped to suit a playstyle. The game is set in the Everywhen, which PlayStation calls the afterlife of the gods.

Why the date matters

February is becoming a crowded window, and a mid-February God of War gives PlayStation a heavyweight first-party release early in 2027 rather than leaving the slot to third parties.

Why it matters

This is Sony's next major first-party exclusive, and the date plus the Serpent Bow details finally give players something concrete to plan around after a long quiet stretch for the series.
