What happened

Gran Turismo 7 Spec IV (Part 1) went live on October 14 at 11:00 pm PDT, which is 7:00 am BST and 3:00 pm JST on October 15. The update is free, and PlayStation says an internet connection is required to install it.

Six cars arrive: the Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo, a 1994 Ferrari F355 Berlinetta, a 1987 Honda Civic Si Group A, the Mazda RX-Vision GT3 Evo 26, a 2023 Honda Step WGN Spada Premium Line and a 1986 Citroen 2 CV 6 Charleston. Some are sold at Brand Central, others through Used Cars or Legend Cars, and all need credits.

The update also adds the Sportsland Sugo circuit, six new World Circuit events, new Sunday Cup and Vision GT Trophy events, new Scapes locations, an Experience mode and new Car Viewer features.

The anniversary controller

PlayStation also showed a DualSense Wireless Controller, Gran Turismo Limited Edition, made for the series' 30th anniversary. It has racing-stripe graphics and a carbon-fibre-style front plate, and PlayStation says quantities are limited.

The recommended price is $84.99, 12,480 yen, 84.99 euros or 74.99 pounds including tax. Pre-orders open October 22 at 10:00 am local time, and the controller launches worldwide on December 10.

Why it matters

A free content drop plus a collectible controller gives Gran Turismo 7 players a reason to return and a clear date and price to plan around.
