Eurogamer reports Grand Theft Auto 6 will be eligible for The Game Awards 2026 by a single day, and GameSpot says it was always eligible.
What was reported
Eurogamer reports that Grand Theft Auto 6 will be eligible for The Game Awards 2026 by a matter of one day, and asks whether it can break the record for wins set by Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
GameSpot says GTA 6 was always eligible and that those suggesting otherwise, including Insider Gaming, had been wrong. Kotaku reports the game avoids an awkward situation by being officially eligible.
Why it matters
It settles whether the biggest release of the year can compete at the biggest awards show.
