LitGirls: Bookbound Dungeons sends anime Alice, Juliet and Dante into a dungeon crawler

NANAIRO ENTERPRISE and DANGEN Entertainment have announced a turn-based dungeon crawler built around anime versions of classic literary characters, with a mental-health bar sitting beside HP. Steam lists it for 2027.

LitGirls: Bookbound Dungeons was announced on October 1 for PC and unspecified consoles. It is a turn-based dungeon crawler from NANAIRO ENTERPRISE, published by DANGEN Entertainment, and its hook is a party drawn from anime takes on classic literary figures - the Steam page names Alice, Juliet, Dante and Raven.

How it works

Expeditions run out of the Astral Scriptorum, a home base the store page describes as existing neither here nor there in space or time. Every mission has an objective, and the page is pointed about the catch: completing it will not mean much if your party does not make it back alive. Fights line your characters up in four ranks against enemies in formations of their own, with one action each per turn, so position and timing carry the weight rather than raw stats. The LOGOS system has you collecting and equipping words, either for passive buffs or to spend mid-battle.

Two health bars

Characters track physical health (HP) and mental health, called Pathos, separately. At zero HP, further attacks can kill outright; drained Pathos instead shatters a character's will to fight. Between runs you spend what you brought home on skills, equipment and developing the Scriptorum before the next, more dangerous trip.

When and where

Steam currently lists a 2027 window. Gematsu, which reported the announcement, says the PC version is targeting the first half of 2027 with console versions still to be dated, and that a separate 18+ version will launch on PC. Supported languages are English, Japanese with full voice acting, and Simplified and Traditional Chinese. The Steam page credits Yoshitaka Hirota, of Shadow Hearts, with the music; Gematsu's report additionally names Shoji Meguro, of Persona, as a composer. Gematsu also places this as the studio's second game in a shared "Girls World" setting, after the railgun defence shooter TurretGirls.

Why it matters

Dungeon crawlers are a crowded genre, and this one is arriving with an unusual framing device, a morale resource that can take a character out without killing them, and the composer of Shadow Hearts attached.
