Moros Protocol is off PC exclusivity. The pixel-art sci-fi shooter arrives on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 on October 1, a little over a year after its Steam release.

What it is

You wake up aboard the Orpheus, a derelict warship in deep space, with no memory of how you got there. From that setup Pixel Reign builds a first-person shooter that runs on roguelite rules: procedurally arranged levels, loadouts of weapons and augments you assemble between runs, and boss fights the studio describes in Souls-like terms. Dying is the loop rather than the end — you upgrade and go again.

The look is the hook. The game uses a custom renderer to put crunchy pixel textures and heavy dynamic lighting on low-poly geometry, which lands somewhere between late-90s shooter and something more deliberately grim. There is drop-in online co-op for two players, and the PlayStation listing notes accessibility options including controller remapping, adjustable difficulty and subtitle support.

Price and platforms

Moros Protocol is $24.99 on consoles. Sony's store has it at $19.99 at launch, with a further 20 percent off for PlayStation Plus members. Super Rare Games is publishing the console versions; the PC release, which came out on September 18, 2025 and is still listed at $24.99 on Steam, went out under the Super Rare Originals label. A GOG version is also available.

Pixel Reign has been at this for a while. "Moros Protocol has been a passion project that started back in 2010 as a concept, which we have been working on for the last 5 years to bring it to life," the studio says on its publisher's page.

Why it matters

It is a well-regarded indie shooter that has spent a year as a PC-only curiosity, and $19.99 on PS5 puts it in the price bracket where roguelites tend to find a much bigger console audience.
