NBA The Run starts its first season by importing five 2000s legends
Wave One - 2000s Legends is live as a free update for NBA The Run, adding Allen Iverson, Kevin Garnett, Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady and Dirk Nowitzki, two new cameras, practice mode and a goaltending fix.

NBA The Run has kicked off its first proper season. Wave One - 2000s Legends went live on September 29 as a free update on Xbox Series X|S, and it's the largest addition the game has had since its June launch.
The legends
Five players headline the wave: Allen Iverson, Kevin Garnett, Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady and Dirk Nowitzki. Each can be unlocked individually for 5,000 in-game Cred, or all five can be bought together as DLC for $9.99.
What else is in the update
Developer Play By Play Studios has added two camera options, Drive Cam and Drive Flip Cam, described as giving players a better read on the floor. There's a Run Anthems playlist with eleven licensed tracks, Championship Belts tied to mastery challenges, and a Practice Mode plus Custom Matches, both of which were missing at launch.
New courts, dunks, taunts and alternate jerseys round it out, and the studio says goaltending has been significantly reduced based on community feedback, which has been one of the more common complaints since June.
What's next
The studio also confirmed a Campaign mode currently targeted for spring 2027, giving the game a single-player structure it doesn't have today.
Why it matters
Practice Mode and Custom Matches are the kind of basics that decide whether a multiplayer sports game keeps players around, and getting them in alongside the seasonal content suggests the roadmap is about more than roster drops.
Why it matters
The update fills in missing fundamentals like practice and custom matches while establishing the seasonal model the game will run on going forward.
