Newzoo's August charts: Madden debuts at No. 2 on console, Big Walk at No. 3 on PC

Newzoo's August 2026 top 20s, shared with GamesIndustry.biz, are stacked with debuts - Madden NFL 27, Big Walk, Star Wars Zero Company, Mortal Shell 2 - while Pokemon Pokopia climbed 21 places on the back of its first paid DLC.

Newzoo's monthly revenue rankings for August 2026 are unusually full of new names. According to figures shared with GamesIndustry.biz, EA Sports Madden NFL 27 debuted at No. 2 on console, House House's co-op game Big Walk landed at No. 3 on PC, and Respawn Entertainment's Star Wars Zero Company entered at No. 6 on PC and No. 20 on console. The charts cover revenue across the US, UK, Germany, France, Spain and Italy.

Who else arrived

Mortal Shell 2 and Hell Let Loose: Vietnam both charted on PC and console. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls came in at No. 14 on console. On PC, Dazed Games' How to Fish debuted at No. 9 and Torn Banner Studios' No More Room in Hell 2 at No. 19. Newzoo market analyst Mert Sahin credited Madden's placement to "the strength of a long-running annual franchise, while Star Wars Zero Company combined the visibility of a globally recognised IP with strong reviews and positive word-of-mouth."

The biggest climb was a DLC

Pokemon Pokopia jumped 21 places on console, from No. 28 to No. 7, after the release of its Bubbly Basin DLC - the first of three planned paid content updates. Helldivers 2's rise was bigger still in places: 30 places on console and 14 on PC to reach No. 19 on both, and from No. 50 to No. 18 on PC revenue, which Newzoo ties to its addition to the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium catalogues.

Who people actually played

Newzoo's monthly active user rankings tell a different story to the revenue ones. Fortnite rose to No. 3 on PC and held No. 1 on console, which Newzoo attributes partly to Chapter 7 Season 4: Override pulling in Sonic the Hedgehog, Mega Man and Kingdom Hearts content - Sahin reads that as support for Epic's strategy "of combining live-service development with high-profile gaming and entertainment partnerships." Marvel's Spider-Man 2 climbed 12 places to No. 12 in console MAU ahead of the Spider-Man: Brand New Day premiere, helped by a free movie-inspired suit and a limited-time discount.

The top of each chart

On PC, Fortnite led, followed by Valorant, Big Walk, League of Legends and Counter-Strike 2 & Go. On console, Fortnite also topped the chart, ahead of Madden NFL 27, EA Sports College Football 27, EA Sports FC 26 and Roblox.

Why it matters

Six debuts across two top 20s in one month is a lot of churn for charts that usually move slowly, and the two biggest climbers both moved because of something other than a new game - a paid DLC and a subscription catalogue addition.
