Okko The Exiled is out now on PC. Eastasiasoft's hand-animated side-scroller from developer Frozen Flame Interactive launched on September 30 via Steam and GOG, and the console versions are not following for months.

What it is

You play Okko, working through Kutala - a land of demons - to defeat Demon Lord Yalda and fulfil an ancient oath. Eastasiasoft's description leans on precision platforming rather than combos: stomping, launching and bashing through environments, with real-time combat, screen-filling boss fights, allies met along the way, and ability upgrades bought at a hub area called The Old Throne. The art is hand-drawn and fluidly animated pixel work, which is the reason the game keeps turning up in feeds; it was shown at Tokyo Game Show 2025.

Price and platforms

The standard version is $14.99 or the same in euros, and a deluxe edition at $19.99 adds the digital soundtrack. Eastasiasoft's announcement promises a 10% launch discount for the first two weeks. It runs on Windows and macOS, is single-player only, and carries interface and subtitle support for English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese and both Chinese scripts.

PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One and Switch versions are scheduled for early 2027, with physical releases planned for consoles. No exact date has been given for any of them.

Why it matters

Hand-animated 2D action games at this price point are a shrinking category, and Okko's five-month gap between PC and consoles is worth noting if you were planning to wait: the version most people would buy it on does not exist yet, and eastasiasoft has not narrowed 'early 2027' any further.

Why it matters

It is a cheap, hand-animated 2D action game out now on PC - but console players who were waiting for it have at least a few months and no firm date.
