Sony has announced the PlayStation Plus Monthly Games for October, and for a Halloween month the lineup is light on horror. F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896 and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 all become claimable on October 6 and stay available until November 2.

What is in the lineup

F1 25 (PS5) is the official game of the 2025 FIA Formula One World Championship. Sony's post highlights its Career mode, the My Team 2.0 management layer and F1 World, a multiplayer mode built around squad racing.

Hunt: Showdown 1896 (PS5) is the odd one out and probably the closest thing here to a seasonal pick. It is an extraction shooter you play alone or in groups of up to three, tracking bosses through corrupted historical settings while rival hunters try to take the same payout off you.

Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 (PS5, PS4) is the only title in the set that reaches PS4 owners. It is a squad-based action game with blocky voxel visuals, pulling soldiers from across the Earth Defense Force series and its spin-offs to fight the usual oversized bugs. It supports four-player online co-op and two-player local split-screen.

Dates to watch

Before the new set lands, members have until Monday, October 5 to add September's games to their libraries: Sniper Elite: Resistance, MLB The Show 26, Wobbly Life and Chained Echoes. Anything not claimed by then is gone from the offer.

Adam Michel, Sony's senior director of content acquisition and operations, introduced the three games in the announcement post without attaching any further PlayStation Plus news to them.

As always, claiming a game keeps it in your library only for as long as your PlayStation Plus subscription runs.

Why it matters

The Monthly Games are the part of PlayStation Plus every paying tier gets, and the claim window is short - miss October 5 and September's set is gone for good.
