DelayConfirmed

Rayman Legends Retold was supposed to be out today — it is a December 3 game now

Ubisoft's 3D reimagining of Rayman Legends was dated for October 1, but a mid-September delay pushed it to December 3. Both Steam and the Xbox store now list the new date, while Ubisoft's original announcement page still says October.

If you had Rayman Legends Retold pencilled in for today, you are not imagining it. October 1 was the date Ubisoft gave the game when it revealed it during a State of Play, and plenty of October release calendars still carry it. It is not coming out today.

What happened

Ubisoft pushed the game to December 3, announcing the move in mid-September, roughly two weeks before it was due. The reason it gave was unusually specific about how finished the game already was. "While the game has officially gone gold, we have decided to take extra time to make sure every detail gets the care it deserves," the company said in a statement reported by VGC — meaning the build was locked and the delay is about polish and timing rather than unfinished work.

The new date is now on the storefronts. Steam and the Xbox store both list Rayman Legends Retold for December 3, at $39.99 for the standard edition and $49.99 for the Deluxe. Ubisoft's own announcement page, still headlined for an October 1 launch, has not been retitled, which is a fair part of why the old date keeps resurfacing.

What you are waiting for

Retold is not a remaster. Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan have rebuilt the 2013 platformer in 3D with a new story and fully voiced cinematics, a sixth realm that was not in the original, four new musical stages, dragon-riding sequences, reworked Cave of Trials challenges and a Kung Foot mode with customisable rules. Four-player couch co-op is in, the soundtrack has been expanded by returning composer Christophe Héral alongside Grant Kirkhope, and every copy includes Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition. The Deluxe edition adds a four-costume Retro Pack and an in-game art gallery.

It is due on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 and PC via Ubisoft Connect, Steam and the Epic Games Store, with Ubisoft+, GeForce Now and Blacknut streaming support.

December 3 also puts it somewhere far less crowded. The original slot sat alongside a run of heavyweight launches, and a family-facing platformer landing in the first week of December instead is a much easier sell.

Why it matters

Rayman has barely existed as a mainline series for a decade, so this is the one chance in years to see whether Ubisoft can still make a Rayman game — and anyone planning to buy it today needs to know the date moved.
