Xbox announces the Nano Controller, a pocket-sized pad for $49.99
Xbox has announced the Nano Controller, a small rechargeable controller for younger players and portable play that costs $49.99 and releases in November.

What happened
Xbox announced the Nano Controller on October 14. It is just over five inches long and weighs 3.5 ounces, which Xbox says makes it shorter and lighter than most modern smartphones, and the company describes it as designed to fit nearly every pocket and budget.
It carries all 18 standard gameplay inputs, a rechargeable battery and a programmable Action Button that can be set to shortcuts such as screenshots and gameplay capture. It connects over Xbox Wireless and Bluetooth.
Price and release
The Nano Controller costs $49.99. Pre-orders opened October 14 and it releases in November in many countries, including the US, UK, Canada, Japan and Germany, with pricing and availability varying by country.
In the US, a Samsung TV bundle and a Meta Quest bundle each include the controller and two months of Game Pass Ultimate for new members. Xbox pitches it for local co-op in Minecraft Dungeons II, which supports up to four players, and for portable play of Forza Horizon 6.
Why it matters
It is Xbox's first controller built around small hands and travel, at about two thirds of the price of a standard pad.
